VEX
Sponsor/Advisor: Mrs. Jumper
Purpose: VEX Robotics is a robotics program for elementary through university students, and a subset of Innovation First International. The VEX Robotics competitions and programs are managed by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (REC).[1] In April 2018, VEX Robotics Competition was named the largest robotics competition in the world by Guinness World Records
HOSA
Sponsor/Advisor: Mr. Dogan and Mrs. R. Garcia
Purpose: HOSA offers 58 competitive events, ranging from skill-based to leadership and team-based. The event groups are as follows: Health science, health professions, leadership, and recognition events. Members compete at the regional, state, and international levels. Those who place in the top three positions at the state level are given the opportunity to compete at the international level.
Solar Car
Sponsor/Advisor: Mrs. Ramirez
Purpose: The Solar Car Challenge is an annual solar-powered car race for high school students. The event attracts teams from around the world, but mostly from American high schools.
Drone
Sponsor/Advisor: Mrs.Jumper
Purpose: HPS-wide/ Regional Competition - Presented in partnership with FTW Robotics and Rice University, HPS Drone Race is the perfect event offering elementary, middle school and high school students an opportunity to get hands-on experience in STEM education in the form of an affordable, fast-paced game. Students will learn to safely operate a drone, work as a team, and research workforce applications of aerial robotic technology; all while having a blast!
UIL
We offer many UIL Academic Teams.
The University Interscholastic League, the main governing body for academic, athletic, and music competition among public schools in the U.S. state of Texas, sanctions many events for students in grades 2 to 12. Competition in grades 9–12 advances from district to region to state.

Science Fair
Students will particpate in a school wide science fair and advance to regional science fairs based on performance. Winners of these regional fairs send students to national fairs such as ISEF[5] and CWSF. National science fairs typically send winners to international fairs such as ISEF (which is a national and an international science fair) and EUCYS.
Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year.

Purpose: This is a Spanish Organization that recognizes students who have taken at least 2 years of Spanish and have maintained a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0. Students who are eligible for membership will have their applications evaluated by the staff committee.
Our HHS members not only strive to be excellent in their school but also in engaging with the Hispanic community and culture. HHS members are dedicated to serve and organize events to aid in the education of the Hispanic culture in and out of the school.
