TELPAS Testing March 5th-8th

There will be mandatory testing for all English Language Learners (ELL) on our campus from March 5th-8th. TEA designed the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) to assess the progress that limited English proficient (LEP) students make in learning the English language.

TELPAS results are used in the following ways:

• To help parents monitor the progress their children make in learning English

• To inform instructional planning and program exit decisions for individual students

• To report performance to local school boards, school professionals, and the community

• To evaluate programs, resources, and staffing patterns

• To evaluate districts and campuses in a variety of state and federal accountability

Thank you,

Keep your child at home if...

Keep your child at home if…

Please keep your child at home if he or she have the following:

The peak of the cold and flu season is upon us. To prevent widespread flu in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines:

Consider keeping your child at home for an extra day of rest and observation if he or she has any of the following symptoms:

  • Very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough
  • Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep)
  • Headache
  • Mild stomach ache

Definitely keep your child at home for treatment and observation if he or she has any of these symptoms:

  • Fever (greater than 100 degrees by mouth and your child may return to school only after his or her temperature has been consistently below 100 degrees, by mouth, for a minimum of 24 hours)
  • Vomiting (even once)
  • Diarrhea
  • Chills
  • General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
  • Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough
  • Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of nose

To help prevent the flu and other colds, teach your children good hygiene habits:

  • Wash hands frequently
  • Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
  • Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, use a paper tissue, throw it

away and then wash hands

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Colds are the most contagious during the first 48 hours. A child who has a fever should remain at home until “fever free” for a minimum of 24 hours. A child who has started antibiotics needs to be on the medication for 48 hours before considered non-contagious and able to return to school.

Often when a child awakens with vague complaints (the way colds and flu begin) it is wise to observe your child at home for an hour or two before deciding whether or not to bring to school.

Your child should be physically able to participate in all school activities on return to school. Keeping a sick child at home will minimize the spread of infections and viruses in the classroom.

Thank you in advance for helping make this year at school as healthy as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to give us a call at

HSI- Fort Worth Counseling Services

Dear Parents,

With the new year already in place and picking up momentum, students will face stressors and educational obstacles that may challenge them emotionally, behaviorally, and socially, thus affecting them academically. To help alleviate such stressors, Harmony School of Innovation- Fort Worth (HSI-FW), will provide counseling support services. The goal is for the students to learn coping strategies and techniques that will help them be emotionally, behaviorally, socially, and academically successful.

The counseling services will be provided by Licensed Professional Counselor- Intern, Salina Keller, and will include: individual counseling, group counseling, and psycho-educational classes. The services will be provided on-campus, and will be available to those students who are in need of additional guidance and support. The counselor, Mrs. Keller, will determine the appropriate intervention and length of services, based on the student’s needs. If your student met with the counselor at any point last school year, then the counselor will also be sending a copy of the consent form home with your child upon checking in with your student to remind him/her of continuing available support within the previously established counseling relationship.

If you feel that your child’s academic success is being challenged due to emotional and social stressors, and would like to refer him/her for services, you may do so by filling out the Referral Form and Parent Consent Form (click here for the forms). Services are confidential, free of charge, and may not be provided if the aforementioned forms are not filled out and signed by the student’s Parent/Legal Guardian. You may obtain more information about when and how to refer your child for services on the Referral Form, or you may contact HSI-FW and speak to Mr. Derby or Mr. Sandoval.

Meal Charges

Meal Charges

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Harmony strives each day to provide a safe, caring and collaborative atmosphere for our students. Nutritious meals are available daily for a price of $1.70 for breakfast, $3.00 for lunch, and $0.50 for a la carte milk.

Upon enrollment in Harmony Public Schools, each student is provided a lunch account onto which money may be deposited for breakfast, lunch, or a la carte milk. Money may be deposited by money order in the school office. You may also deposit money online by setting up an account at In addition to making payments, you may also arrange for low balance alerts and schedule automatic payments. School Café is available online and as an app for both iPhone and Android devices.

If you would like to apply for free or reduced price meals, the lunch application is available online at A paper copy of the application is also available at the school office. A reduced price breakfast is $0.30, and a reduced price lunch is $0.40. Once an application is submitted, the school will mail a letter to the home address within 10 school days with the student’s eligibility.

Should a student’s meal account balance fall below $0, he/she will be allowed to charge up to –$10.00. Once the negative meal account balance limit is reached, the student will receive an alternate meal. Alternate meals consist of cereal, fruit, and milk for breakfast; and for lunch, a sandwich, vegetable, and milk.

Harmony goes to great lengths to communicate with parents about the status of their student’s lunch balance. Parents will be notified when a student’s balance approaches $0. The school will make several additional attempts to contact the parents regarding negative balances prior to the student receiving an alternate meal. Parents may view meal account balances at any time by logging in to their School Café account. Please note that while households later approved for free meals will begin receiving free meals immediately, they are still responsible for paying negative balances accrued on the meal account.

We appreciate your continued support as we work to ensure a safe and productive learning environment for all of our students.

Harmony Giving Day 2017

Harmony College Fund Graphic

Harmony staff, teachers, and administrators have spent countless of hours preparing our students for college and each year approximately 85% of our graduating class enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

But, despite these impressive enrollment numbers, far too many of our low income and first-time college students drop out as they hit financial and circumstantial barriers such as the cost of attending college, that has increased by 36% in the last 10 years. Harmony Public Schools has 5,033 graduates to date and is projected to have 11,686 graduates by 2020, current funding sources are unable to meet even the current demands of these programs. Clearly, additional financial support is required.

We are asking our Harmony community to consider going beyond educational efforts, providing even greater assistance to our graduates through generous Harmony Giving Day contributions to the Harmony College Fund. All your donations will go towards helping our Harmony graduates to complete their higher education dreams and achieve their career aspirations by providing additional scholarships and direct college and career support services.

Let’s come together to reach our target of raising $50,000 on our first ever giving day.

Thank you for your generosity.

to make their college and career dreams come true.
